The students ...

  • are able to understand the requirements and possible solutions for an application example based on a selected technical issue relating to IT security
  • understand technical integration aspects and implement selected content from “Secure Systems” and “Algorithms and Data Structures”
  • can design technical components securely using an example and carry out a security assessment
  • can carry out an evaluation and assessment of technical systems and identify residual risks
  • can present the results in a presentation and take part in a discussion
  • can recognize and reflect on challenges in teamwork
  • can understand security as a process in an ICT system and design and apply selected mechanisms

Inhalt:

  • Summary of relevant basics for a selected technical practical case of IT security with summary of
    • security-by-design
    • Security evaluation and assessment
    • Introduction to sensor technology and communication technologies from areas such as automotive safety, IoT or control and regulation technology
  • Development of requirements and implementation as well as evaluation of possible IT security solutions for the selected practical, hardware-related use case
  • Technical integration aspects, implementation of selected content from “Secure Systems” and “Algorithms and Data Structures”
  • Repetition: Fundamentals of teamwork, lecture is project-oriented

Report

  • The report comprises an independent and in-depth written examination of a question from the context of the course, including and targeted critical evaluation of relevant literature, as well as the presentation of one's own work, also in comparison in a team, and the communication and evaluation of one's own results in an oral presentation and in the subsequent discussion in the team.
  • The work must be submitted in writing.
