Angestrebte Lernergebnisse:
The students ...
- understand the theoretical foundations of knowledge representation
- know important languages, methods and tools that are used in practice to represent knowledge
- have the ability to develop simple knowledge graphs and ontologies independently in small teams and
- present these results.
Inhalt:
In this module, students are introduced to the basics of knowledge representation. This is done using the example of technologies that are used for the representation of knowledge in the form of knowledge graphs and ontologies.
The following content is covered in this module:
- Theoretical foundations of knowledge representation and formal semantics
- Resource Description Framework (RDF): a language for knowledge graphs
- Resource Description Framework Schema (RDFS): a language for simple controlled vocabularies and taxonomies
- SPARQL Protocol and RDF Query Language: a query language for RDF(S) graphs
- Web Ontology Language (OWL): a language for applied ontologies
- Methods for the development of knowledge graphs and ontologies
- Examples of the use of knowledge graphs and ontologies in practice in various application areas (e.g. biology, chemistry, materials science)
